The Job: Whole house renovation and remodeling plus the addition of a bedroom wing for the children.
The Challenge: To maintain the structural integrity and charm of the original home and to capture that charm in the new wing and remodeled areas.
What Grant Lovallo says: Our homeowners remodel and renovate because they love their homes. In this home, we were able to preserve a tongue-and-groove ceiling and to use sand-blasted wood accents to give the renovation the same warm feeling. This is a very eclectic home. We preserved its past; but, got it ready for the future with new efficiencies and a wonderful, new bedroom wing that the kids

This is to let you know what a wonderful job Native Tucson Builders did on the remodel of our home. Before we started our project, we reached out to several builders to see who we thought would do the best job on the remodel of our newly purchased 1950’s foothills ranch home.
At the onset, we loved Grant and Joe Lovallo. They were both extremely professional and met our needs perfectly. During the project, we found them to be the “perfect” builders. They met with us often, detailing exactly how things were going, they kept the job site clean, stayed on track time-wise and budget-wise. Their selection of sub-contractors was perfect. Our home is beautiful because of the Lovallos. We now have a new home with all of the charm of a 1950’s home. I would not change a thing!
A huge thank you goes to Native Tucson Builders.

The Job: Add a new family room, bedroom, garage and laundry room to an existing two-story home.
The Challenge: This home was beautifully situated on a smaller, foothills’ lot. The challenge was to maintain the structural balance of the home in relation to the surrounding structures while creating new indoor space for the homeowners.
What Grant Lovallo says: Working in a two-story home means more utilization of systems since there’s another story above you. Adding an upstairs bath plus a laundry room meant doing our homework for a flawless operation. We were as thrilled as the homeowners with the finished product. My favorite was an inviting deck over the new garage. It provided the perfect spot to watch the lights come on in the city below or to enjoy a morning cup of coffee.

I am writing to let you know in writing what I have said to you many times in person over the past few months. Thank you for handling our home remodeling and being such a reliable and trusted partner on our project.
We were extremely impressed with you and your company’s handling of the project and how attentive you were to all of our needs from start to finish. We felt you were completely trustworthy and went out of your way to over deliver on almost every aspect of the project.
When we first discussed our project you said you would not be the cheapest nor the most expensive contractor; but you would work hard to be the one we would recommend to our friends. We hired you on that basis and have been thrilled that you were the person we ended up working with. We could not recommend you more highly to other people considering remodeling work.
Thanks again for all that you did for us.

The Job: Working with a world-renown designer, Sam Botero of Samuel Botero Associates, to update the delivery systems for cutting-edge technology in the home, and oversee and install custom finishes to the designer’s exacting specifications.
The Challenge: The wiring in this beautiful older home could not support modern communication technologies. Work involved demo of interior walls for installation of wiring. Rooms had to be restored to their original state with smooth-finish walls and decorator-dictated accents. Plumbing and other electrical had to also be upgraded.
What Grant Lovallo says: This was an incredible experience. Not only did we work with Sam Botero, who is frequently featured in Architectural Digest; we worked with artisans and craftsmen from across the nation. When finished, the home featured everything from bedroom walls upholstered with imported Italian fabric to a state-of-the-art networked phone system. It remained a beautiful, classic home, but it could now support the increased load created by today’s wired world.
What Sam Botero says:
Our firm, Samuel Botero Associates, has worked on projects nationally and internationally and have worked with a broad range of contractors worldwide. A client of ours for whom we have done several projects decided to do a major upgrade for their Tucson residence. This was to be a complete remodeling and redecorating job upgrading everything from electrical to plumbing, stone work to paint, wall upholstery to drapery. We had the good fortune to work with Native Tucson Builders as the General Contractor. This project required that all work be of the highest caliber, something our clients are accustomed to in all their residences. The lighting system involved the use of new LED technology while paint and papering had to be of the finest Old World standard. Native Tucson Builders proved to be the best possible contractor we could have chosen for the job. They were meticulous in all aspects of the work and always did the proper research, asking questions where needed, which experience has taught me is invaluable in a contractor. All subcontractors were excellent and amenable to go that extra mile to do the job correctly. Everyone involved was a lady or gentleman and a pleasure to work with. I can unequivocally give Native Tucson Builders the 5 stars they deserve as contractors of world class quality.

The Job: Design-Build construction to completely remake an entire home.
The Challenge: Demolition of the entire home leaving only the slab, a stone fireplace and a garage in place for the extensive re-build which created a new home for the owners – all while taking into account the beautiful mountain views from the property.
What Grant Lovallo says: This was a true collaboration and sharing of ideas with the homeowners to create a home that was exactly what they wanted. We even hand-gathered the rocks to match the existing stone fireplace and installed an amazing sound system for these music-lovers that included special speakers that could be dry-walled over to be truly invisible.
Homeowner Comments:
Not long ago, after extensive deliberation, Kathy and I decided to remodel our house. After looking at the work of a number of builders, we chose Native Tucson Builders to make extensive renovations to our home. We are very glad that we chose Grant and Joe to carry out the renovation. We wanted to add an exercise room and expand other areas of the house. The result in our view is a work of art. We always had good mountain views, but when Grant and Joe completed the work, it was as though God had painted the mountains in our windows. We continue to appreciate the beauty of our new home and the care and quality of the workmanship that created it.

The Job: Converting a large work shop to a guest casita
The Challenge: Making sure all the finishes are consistent and seamless to the original house design
What Grant Lovallo Says: The project is special because we designed and built the original house. The biggest compliment we can receive is when a client calls us back for additional work. Consequently, we were thrilled to have the opportunity to put the finishing touches on this beautiful home.
Homeowner Comments: We love our home. The design, the quality of construction and especially the finishes are just wonderful. Our recent addition is seamlessly blended wit the rest of the house. We highly recommend Native Tucson Builders.

The Job: The project included transforming a small backyard into a versatile stand-alone studio that could be used for everything from working to entertaining. It is primarily used by the owner for his Skillfully Aware educational classes.
The Challenge: To create livable, workable space in a 1940’s home that combines today’s amenities in a soothing environment that could be used for both work and play.
What Grant Lovallo says: This project was a special challenge because the Pirtle’s focus is on blending mental, physical, emotional and spiritual aspects into a calm, self-healing environment with an Eastern feel. Yet, they wanted the space to be “at home” in an older Tucson neighborhood. The space had to be efficient, but it also had to be peaceful and beautiful.
What the Homeowners say: Native Tucson Builders remodeled our 1941 Blenman Elm Neighborhood home. They transformed an otherwise unusable backyard (hot and empty) into a multipurpose oasis that we use for work, leisure and entertaining. As evidence of NTB’s exemplary work, after our project was completed, our home was featured in stories in the Daily Star and Tucson Magazine. The Neighborhood Association also included us in their annual home show tour. Working with NTB was a great experience. Grant and Joe were not only professional, they were conscientious. They really cared that the work was done perfectly, and, that we were happy with the result. We were especially impressed that they continued to work diligently through a “punch list” of remaining items, as they arose, even more than a year after the project was completed. We would heartily recommend NTB to our friends, and we have many times!
